About the Speaker:
Mr. John Poon
John Poon is a accomplished project management professional with a focus on the vibrant Greater Bay Area. As the former Public Affairs Manager for the Greater Bay Area at Tencent, John fostered strategic relationships with key stakeholders including the governments of HKSAR and the Chinese Mainland, as well as prominent public institutions and community groups. Notably, John coordinated impactful projects including the Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme and Tencent’s donation to combat the Hong Kong pandemic. Before his role at Tencent, John served as an Assistant Manager of Business Policy at the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. Here, he successfully organized projects that facilitated connections between business leaders and tech giants in the Greater Bay Area, such as Huawei, Tencent, and WeBank. John founded “Greater Bay Area Quick Charge”, a platform that has successfully brought together and supported thousands of ambitious young individuals within the Greater Bay Area, providing them with valuable resources and guidance.
John’s exceptional expertise in project management have garnered recognition, including receiving the Best Project award at the Global Public Policy Network (GPPN) Conference, where he competed against top public policy schools worldwide. Media outlets such as Xinhua News, People’s Daily, TVB, and i-Cable News have also highlighted his professional experience and insights within the Greater Bay Area.
