PMI Hong Kong Chapter is proud to introduce Ms. Kathy Chan as our guest speaker to share with us the captioned topic. Ms. Chan is Founding Partner of Public Communication Strategic Consultancy Ltd (PSSC) and has more than 30 years as a Public Relations Consultant, Trainer and Reporter.

About the Topic:
"Managing Communication on Projects in Times of Crisis" As Project Management Professionals, the ability to communicate is a critical success factor for any project. Delivering the right message at the right time can often be challenging enough but in times of crisis, where decisions need to be made quickly and actions need to taken swiftly ; clear, concise, early and frequent communication can make a significant difference, both in terms of its impact and outcome. 
In this seminar, our Guest Speaker will draw on her professional experiences gained in the management and training of communications particularly in times of crisis situations (using examples such as the 2003 SARS outbreak in Hong Kong and the 2005 Hurricane Katrina in the US) to share practical advice, tools and techniques to ensure 
  • Communications are Clear, Concise, Consistent and Credible (4C's)
  • The right message is delivered at the right time 
  • The message is delivered to the right audience 
  • The message is delivered using the most appropriate method and style   
  • Better Preparation, Presentation & Awareness when dealing with media 
About the Speaker:
Ms. Kathy Chan
B.Social Sc. (HK Baptist Univ.), Hon. Dip in Communication (HK Baptist Univ.)  
Ms. Chan is an experienced Public Affairs Consultant, Trainer and a former Reporter with extensive experience in working with various professions, trades, public bodies, Government authorities, media and political circles. She specialises in the areas of public affairs, media relations, issue & crisis management, communication training and coaching.  
In 2003, she played a key role in the provision of communication coaching for senior executives of private and public organisations in the wake of and after the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak. In addition, she has also conducted numerous training programmes in the areas of Media Briefing, Issue & Crisis Management to Mainland Public Servants, incumbent members of Executive Council, Legislative Council and District Council.
Ms. Chan graduated from the Hong Kong Baptist University with an Honours Diploma in Communication and also a Bachelor degree in Social Science. In addition, she has attended the prestigious Leading Professional Services Firm Program at Harvard Business School.
