Course Objectives
 
Project stakeholders are defined as anyone whose interests can be positively or negatively affected by your project, or anyone who is able to affect the success or failure of the project either before or after it has been completed. Stakeholder management requires effective and tactful communication skills to satisfy the needs of, and resolve issues with, project stakeholders, and can significantly contribute to the success of the project.  Stakeholders and project members may have conflicting priorities, and it is crucial that as project manager, you are able to engage your stakeholders and team members to collaborate and achieve satisfying outcomes.
 
Upon completion of the course, the participants will be able to:
  • Understand what is stakeholder management
  • Identify and influence the stakeholders who can make or break your project
  • Understand processes for effective stakeholder management
  • Articulate leadership skills and behaviors for more successful project delivery through better stakeholder relationships.

Instructor’s Profile – Ms. Christine YAU, PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, CTIPD, MITM, BSc
 
Christine has over 20 years of experience with expertise in Strategy, Consulting, Project Management and Solutions Management.  Christine currently holds a Senior Vice President position at PCCW Solutions Ltd.  During the past years, she has led the development and delivery of IS Strategy and Architecture for the company, and she has also held different roles in various projects that span across different industries including both government and enterprise sectors. She has held various roles such as Project Director, Project Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) Change Manager, IT Architect and DBA, for projects in Hong Kong and Australia.  Ms. Yau was responsible for managing the P&L for the Public industry of the company for the past few years and has recently changed her major focus on strategic planning and growth of the company outside of Hong Kong, i.e. to drive the new business growth initiatives in the Asia Pacific region across different industries.  Christine is also the Programme Manager for SOA-QPS (HKSARG) and also has experience in developing, managing and growing PMO within the organization and also for external clients.
 
She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Computer Science from University of Melbourne, Australia and a Master’s degree in IT Management from University of Wollongong, Australia.  She is a certified PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner and Certified Professional IT (Project Director), as well as a member of the Project Management Expert Group for HKITPC. 
 
Ms. Yau graduated from The University of Melbourne, Australia, with a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, a Master in Information Technology Management degree from the University of Wollonggong, Australia, and an Executive Diploma in Finance & Corporate Accounting from HKU Space.  She is a PRINCE2 registered Practitioner, certified IT Project Director (HKITPC) and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP both in China and HK).
 
Ms. Yau is a full member and Council Member of Hong Kong Computer Society.  She is also a member of Project Management Institute (PMI), held various roles at PMI HK Chapter since 2007 and is currently the Executive Vice President (External) at PMI HK Chapter  (2017-2019).
