Stakeholder Management is so often overlooked! One of the key duties of a project manager is that of stakeholder management and poor stakeholder management is one of the key reasons for project failure. Knowing your stakeholders and recognizing their expectations is a critical element in managing successful projects especially in these days of cross-functional, matrix-managed, and virtual or geographically dispersed teams.

This one-day workshop covers the principles of engaging and influencing the right people in the right way to ensure the support and resources required for success. It is designed to provide project managers with an understanding of the stakeholder management processes to manage the stakeholder community throughout the lifecycle of a project.

Course Objectives

Project stakeholders are defined as anyone whose interests can be positively or negatively affected by your project, or anyone who is able to affect the success or failure of the project either before or after it has been completed. Stakeholder management requires effective and tactful communication skills to satisfy the needs of, and resolve issues with, project stakeholders, and can significantly contribute to the success of the project. Stakeholders and project members may have conflicting priorities, and it is crucial that as project manager, you are able to engage your stakeholders and team members to collaborate and achieve satisfying outcomes.

Instructor Profiles - Miss Christine YAU, PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, CPIT(PD), MITM, BSc

Christine has over 20 years of managing projects which span across different countries, industries and solutions. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree majoring in Computer Science from University of Melbourne, Australia and a Master degree in IT Management (MITM) from University of Wollongong, Australia. She also held an Executive Diploma in Finance and Corporate Accounting. She is a certified PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner and Certified Professional IT (Project Director), as well as an assessor and a member of the Project Management Expert Group for Hong Kong IT Professional Certification.

Christine is currently Executive VP - External of PMI Hong Kong Chapter. Prior to that, she has been serving as the VP Education of PMI Hong Kong Chapter (2009-2013) and has been serving as the Chairman of the IT Club, the first special interest group of PMI HK Chapter from 2007 to 2014. Christine currently holds a Senior Vice President position at PCCW Solutions Ltd, where she is responsible for Client Partner, Solutions Management, Projects Delivery and also the management of PMO. She has held various roles such as Project Director, Project Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) Change Manager, IT Architect and DBA in projects across different countries including Hong Kong, Australia, USA, United Kingdom and Australia. Christine is also the Programme Manager for SOA-QPS (HKSARG) and has experience in developing, managing and growing PMO within the organization and also for external clients.
